About
I’m a Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU), and co-head of the Applied AI Research Lab. These roles keep me close to cutting-edge research and responsible AI practice.
I’m also the founder of blattner technology. Drawing on both academic and industry work, I translate complex data challenges into practical, production-ready systems that deliver measurable outcomes.
I advise companies, public institutions, and research organisations on AI strategy, model development, and responsible deployment. Projects typically range from executive workshops and strategic planning to rapid prototyping and large-scale implementation.
I regularly speak at conferences and lecture on AI and innovation at universities. I also offer customised training to help teams build and sustain their own AI capabilities—often integrating insights and tooling from ongoing research at HSLU’s Applied AI Lab.
Why work with me
Focus on Your Business Outcomes
I start with the business results you need, ensuring every technical decision directly supports achieving your goals.
De-Risk Innovation and Investment
We use rapid validation and lean prototypes to test assumptions early, ensuring you invest only in approaches proven to deliver value.
Empower Your Team for Independence
My goal is your long-term success. Through targeted workshops, clear documentation, and strategic briefings, I equip your team to own, manage, and extend the solution.
Gain Practical, Future-Ready Solutions
Benefit from a unique perspective that blends years of hands-on industry delivery with ongoing research insights, ensuring solutions are both effective today and adaptable for tomorrow.

How I work
Every collaboration begins with a clear definition of the outcome that matters most to you. Be it faster decisions, leaner operations, or an entirely new product capability. Once the objective is fixed, I create a focused proof-of-concept, working side by side with your team to validate the approach and build a solid business case.
When the prototype demonstrates its value, I support your organisation in making it production-ready. Throughout the engagement, I document key decisions, run targeted workshops, and coach your staff, equipping them to operate and extend the system with confidence long after delivery.
Background journey
I studied physics in Zurich and earned a PhD in theoretical physics, focusing on nonlinear dynamical systems. After leading data science and research teams in manufacturing, life sciences, media, logistics, and the public sector, I launched my own company to apply my combined academic and industry insights directly for clients. Today, alongside client work, I serve as a Professor of Artificial Intelligence and co-head the Applied AI Research Lab at HSLU—pairing rigorous research with practical execution to help organisations generate value from AI while keeping full ownership of the solutions they adopt.
